Fire Alarms

A fire alarm may not necessarily prevent a fire but it can minimise the risk of the fire spreading through the building and ensure your staff evacuate safely by giving warning.

We can install a fire alarm in all commercial properties and can advise and plan the best system for you, taking into account the layout of your building and the requirements of your fire risk assessment. We can install a combination of detectors including smoke, heat and call points to ensure your premises and staff are fully protected.

A fire alarm is usually required to be installed following a fire risk assessment being carried out.
Fire alarms can also be monitored by being connected to an Alarm Receiving Centre 24 hours a day ensuring that if a fire starts whilst your premises are unoccupied the appropriate action is taken to limit the damage.

The BS5839 standard states that fire alarms must be kept in working order and are tested on a regular basis. This means the fire alarm must be properly maintained by being tested weekly and serviced at regular intervals throughout the year. We can offer service and maintenance packages for both new installations and existing systems ensuring your system meets the relevant standards and legislation and most importantly your system is working when you need it most.

Fire Risk Assessments

A fire risk assessment identifies all fire related hazards within a premises and how those hazards may affect the building and its occupants.

The assessment will also identify the level of risk those hazards may present and the suitable control measures to be put in place to minimise the risks.

Once the assessment is completed an action plan will need to be put into place with all significant findings and remedial actions to be taken recorded in the plan. These actions may include the installation of a fire alarm, fire extinguishers or emergency lighting.
A fire risk assessment must be carried out by a responsible person to enable your premises to meet the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

Salamander Fire & Security Ltd can arrange a fire risk assessments on your premises and will advise you on what you need to ensure it meets all fire regulations and most importantly to safeguard your premises and its occupants. Contact us to book your fire risk assessment and you will be taking the first step to ensuring your investment is protected.

Emergency Lighting

Emergency lighting gives added peace of mind of ensuring that in the event of an emergency your employees can evacuate your building quickly and safely.

Emergency lights are units situated above fire exits and along escape routes. They are wired into the mains but also have their own back up battery so in the event of an emergency or fire, and mains power failure, the lights will illuminate all fire routes and fire exits making it easy to see the quickest and safest way out for staff.

We can install and maintain emergency lighting in your premises to ensure you meet the requirements of your fire risk assessment and the Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations 1997.

Fire Extinguishers

Fire extinguishers are an important part of your fire safety and having them installed in your premises will give you added peace of mind that you are taking precautions against the threat of fire.

Fire extinguishers should be serviced and maintained on a regular basis to ensure they are working when you need them most. We can not only provide you with fire extinguishers that are most appropriate to your premises but we can also carry out a yearly service and maintenance on them.
